committees

    Wow!--we have 14 committees that help our cohousing community learn, act, and thrive.  During planning and construction, we had most of these committees.  After move-in, there has been some evolution of the committee structure.  Many people are on more than one committee.


Coordinating council has a representative from each committee and meets monthly to help plan the topics for the monthly community meeting, and coordinate community projects and issues.


Community Life helps plan and organize community events such as monthly birthday celebrations, the Talent Show, New Year’s Eve Party, and coming of age and moving away celebrations.


FACILITATION meets monthly to plan the logistics of and discuss issues related to the monthly General Meeting.  Members facilitate our General Meetings.


facilities meets to address maintenance issues for common areas and buildings.


Finance manages the expenses and books for the community and prepares budget reports.


Green team Our newest committee was started to address issues of recycling, sustainability, ecology, and reducing our carbon footprint.


Heart Team Living in community together can be challenging.  The Heart Team helps confidentially facilitate resolution of difficulties between community members.


kids  The younger children have a separate Kids Meeting--mostly for fun and to discuss values.  The teens also meet together to discuss issues, eat pizza, and plan video game nights.


kitchen-common house oversees the Common House kitchen, community meals, laundry, guest, and exercise rooms, and the living room/library.


LANDSCAPE-GARDEN The “green thumbs” of the community plan the vegetable garden and coordinate our landscape maintenance.


LEgal  addresses legal issues for the community.


membership provides orientation for new members and does outreach in the community.


Parents & kids Parents meet monthly with other members to discuss issues related to the children in our community.


PETS helped write our Pets Policy and facilitates any issues at Yulupa with pet owners.


tasks team organizes the various routine tasks that keep our community tidy and beautiful.
