Yulupa Cohousing!
commitment to community
When we established our cohousing community, we agreed on three commitments for adults to live at Yulupa:
l Cook and clean for a Community Meal about once a month
l Work on a Task Team to clean and maintain common areas
l Attend General Meetings
l Work with one or more committees
community agreements
Prior to move-in, we consensed on agreements or policies to clarify the CC&R’s.
• consensus decision making
We have agreed to make community and budget decisions using consensus (see
Governance).
• HOA DuES (homeowner association)
Each household pays monthly homeowner association dues to support building and grounds
maintenance, common area utilities, community events and celebrations, community
equipment, and other community projects.
• Community meals plan
Outlines agreements for community meals including cooking, cleaning, and payment
responsibilities, teamwork, evaluation, and food served.
• resale agreement
Community members are offered first choice when a member decides to sell their unit. We
work with the seller to help insure that a new owner will be an active member in cohousing.
• pet policy
As we live in a relatively small space, we encourage no more than 1 pet per household,
unless a request is approved by the Pet Committee. Dogs must be on leashes when outside,
and indoor cats are preferred.
• NOISE GUIDELINES
Quiet hours are between 10pm to 8am.
• smoking policy
Common areas are non-smoking except for a designated outdoor area. Owners determine
smoking policy for their own units.
• guest room policy
A sign-up sheet allows members to share use and clean-up of the Guest Room for visiting
friends and family.
• laundry room policy
Establishes guidelines for use of the community laundry room including costs and
maintenance.
